The Hub Connects Educators with Resources for Healthy Schools

June 14, 2019

A robust new website designed to boost school wellness efforts throughout Colorado is now online. The Hub connects people working in PK-12 education with a broad array of resources, including events, grants, organizations, professional development, research, templates, toolkits, and much more. These vetted materials are provided by a variety of organizations and can be used to integrate health and wellness in the classroom and the school community.

The Colorado Education Initiative (CEI) has partnered with Healthy Schools, Successful Students (HSSS) to create a tangible, online setting that increases opportunities to advance learning and strengthen networks in support of the shared vision that Colorado youth are healthy and reach their full potential.

“Colorado has healthy school champions in every district and we have heard over and over again that they need a place to connect, to learn from promising practices, and to explore the right next steps for the schools in their communities,” said Rebecca Holmes, President and CEO of the CEI. “Now, The Hub is ready to be that connection to people, organizations, and tools. These connections are what will advance wellness and fuel student potential.”

Join this online community today to support the shared vision that all Colorado youth are healthy and reach their full potential.

  • Create a user profile.Introduce yourself and open the door for engagement with other Hub users.
  • Create an organization profile. Add your organization to the directory of agencies, non-profits, and companies focused on health and education.
  • Submit content. Share events, learning opportunities, programs, and resources. Organizations with a profile on The Hub can submit content for global display; individuals can add information and upload resources to their user profiles.

With a library of materials ranging from health education, nutrition,  and physical activity to safe physical environments and social-emotional support, The Hub is where school communities will find information to address their specific health and wellness priorities in support of increased student achievement. Many of the resources housed in The Hub have been used and tested in school communities throughout Colorado.

More than 60 people, representing 30-plus organizations – all focused on healthy learning environments – participated in activities to gather requirements and contribute to the vision for The Hub. CEI provides day-to-day management of the website, and members of HSSS review resource items prior to publication.
