Understanding the Impact of COVID-19

March 19, 2020

By Rebecca Holmes, CEI President and CEO

This is a challenging time for schools and districts across Colorado. The impact of the COVID-19 virus has been significant and we see schools responding in key ways to a situation in which each day contains a new wave of information. Here at CEI, we are working to support our staff and our partners during this time and are thinking about how to best leverage our organization’s capacity should school closures go on longer than we all hope.

We are reaching out to educators and leaders in Colorado to understand the most direct impact of these unusual times. We hope that by hearing from you directly we can understand what the impact of these rapid changes have been and what support you may need. I ask that you fill out this brief survey; your answers can not only inform our work moving forward, but the way our state responds in the weeks ahead to best support students, families, and educators.

Thank you in advance for all that you are doing to remain healthy, safe, and secure right now. We are wishing the best to your families and communities as we face these uncertain times.

If we view ourselves as besieged victims who need to go into hiding, then we will cultivate fear and hoarding. If we view ourselves as a community working hard to protect the most vulnerable among us, then we will cultivate courage and helping. Mindset matters.
