How liberal enrollment policies for honors classes are hurting scores but helping students

Take a look at Hernan Dominguez’s life: four advanced placement classes, involvement in everything from National Honor Society to Student Council and a part-time job at McDonald’s. It’s far from normal. In fact, it’s downright exceptional for a first-generation U.S. citizen and a future first-generation college student. But Dominguez, a Greeley Central High School senior, lives for challenges like tough AP classes, and he chooses his friends the same way.
