Applications Open! Join a Community of School District Leaders and Shape the Future of Colorado Public Education

March 5, 2026

Are you a new or emerging systems leader?

Do you aspire to be a superintendent in a rural setting?

Are you seeking to strengthen your systems leadership skills?

Colorado Education Initiative (CEI) is now accepting applications for the sixth cohort of the Rural Superintendent Academy (RSA).

Supported by the Boettcher Foundation, RSA prepares its fellows to build responsive relationships with students, families, boards, and staff. As a cohort, participants acquire tools to help them pursue long-term success and sustainability for their districts and communities.

This unique and wide-ranging professional network of current and aspiring systems leaders offers individuals relevant professional development tailored to personal career objectives. Fellows learn alongside peers from all corners of Colorado, culminating with membership in a lasting support system.

If you are ready to join a community dedicated to a thriving future for Colorado, we encourage you to apply today.

To be considered, applicants must attend the two-day July convening in Denver and at least two of the three subsequent “24-hour sprints.”

Convening dates for 2026-27:

  • July 23-24, 2026 (Frisco)
  • October 21-22, 2026 (Denver)
  • January 28-29, 2027 (Location TBD)

Dr. Cile Chavez Fellowship

Each year, one or more RSA fellows are recognized as Dr. Cile Chavez Fellows. This fellowship is intended to inspire diverse, underrepresented educational leaders to join RSA and bring their unique perspectives to the helm of Colorado districts. Applicants selected to participate as Dr. Cile Chavez fellows will receive financial assistance to cover tuition for the RSA program.

RSA applicants have the option to share their interest in applying to this fellowship in the application form.

Applications for RSA Cohort 6 close April 15, 2026.
