I have a background in public health, specifically, mental health, but I was drawn to education because I see that many of the current challenges in education are also public health challenges.
About my Innovation Fellows project:
My project focuses on supporting high school students to explore their interests, and as a result, provide them with a greater sense of autonomy, purpose, and fulfillment.
When I’m not working you will find me…
Walking our Royal Bahamian Potcake (a fancy term for a mutt from the Bahamas) around Denver.
Three words my friends would use to describe me are…
Curious, caring, and respectful.
My favorite quote is…
“You can’t fit in with people by pretending to be just like they are; you fit in by engaging in a dialogue about your differences, and by putting aside the assumption that your way of life is in any way preferable to theirs.” —Andrew Solomon
This covers so many important issues to me – the universal desire to fit in, the desire to be unique and be proud of that uniqueness, healthy communication, empathy, equality, tolerance, inquiry, human connection, and storytelling.
