CEI announces Pamela Cantor, M.D. as the inaugural keynote speaker for the High School Redesign Accelerator this June 26-28

The High School Redesign Accelerator will connect your team with some of our industry’s leading #RedesignRockstars like our 2019 headliner, Pamela Cantor, M.D.  A groundbreaking thought leader, Dr. Cantor’s innovative work is helping to reshape our understanding of the science of learning and development, including social emotional learning, which high schools can use to equitably support all of their students to develop the competencies needed to be prepared and set up for success in their futures.

We’ll be announcing the rest of our #RedesignRockstars in the coming days and weeks. You won’t want to miss the chance to work with all of these expert coaches in one place!

Pamela Cantor, M.D. is the Founder and Senior Science Advisor of Turnaround for Children, a nonprofit organization that connects the dots between science, adversity, and school performance focusing on outcomes and achievement.

Dr. Cantor practiced child psychiatry for nearly two decades, specializing in trauma. She founded Turnaround for Children after co-authoring a study on the impact of the 9/11 attacks on New York City schoolchildren. In schools with high concentrations of children living in poverty, she saw students deeply affected by their circumstances, teachers struggling to meet students’ needs and principals unable to build environments that support healthy development and academic achievement. Today, Turnaround translates scientific research about how children develop and learn into tools and services for educators to help all students thrive — impacting more than 50,000 students this school year alone.

Michael Lamb, Executive Director of Turnaround for Children, will also be in attendance to work with your school team. Michael has led Turnaround for Children’s district, network and school partnerships in Washington, D.C. for more than five years. He also trains district, network, and school leaders; teachers and social workers; and delivers professional development presentations and workshops to educators nationally.
