2016 CEI Showcase: Sparking Curiosity

Sparking Curiosity!

All it took was a spark to get more than 400 educators curious about learning at the 2016 CEI Showcase held at the Westin Snowmass Resort. This year’s theme Sparking Curiosity challenged participants to get curious about their own learning and to ask questions, explore, build skills, and see promising practices up close. Educators chose from eight styles of breakout sessions designed for adult learners. They experienced CEI’s inspiring Ed Talk keynotes — personal and passionate stories from local educators — and keynote Tony Wagner. SpaceLab’s Seeing is Believing expeditions took them on adventures to nearby learning experiences. Discovery-based learning activities from partners OhHeckYeah, RAFT, and the Colorado Geographic Alliance helped educators to explore the powerful connection between play and learning.

2016 CEI Showcase

It has been a life-changing event for me. My classroom is going to be fundamentally different and better than if I had not attended CEI’s Showcase.

People come back from other conferences asking for money to purchase tools. People come back from CEI’s Showcase asking for support to improve and innovate their instruction.

CEI’s Showcase is an opportunity to reflect on our work, both individually and collectively. It takes this devoted and informal time together to identify where we want to grow. CEI exposes teachers to new topics and perspectives. This year, I especially enjoyed the content on non-academic outcomes of our students. These topics remind us to keep the whole child in mind throughout our work. And CEI’s Showcase is fun! Between the expeditions and the receptions, it’s a great way to end the school year.
